It took us an hour of waiting and only 10 minutes for the interview. The consul officer was very firm and straightforward!

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

After reading the other reviews I can only assume we all were interviewed by the same man in Charleston, SC. We arrived at 8AM for our 8:30 interview and sat and waited. The IO took another couple into his office and after about 20 minutes they came out with the IO being very nice and stamping their passport. Next we were interviewed and I had two suitcases of proof for the IO including over 500 photos. My wife was applying for the AOS but the IO asked me most of the questions with the first one being our ages since we have a large age difference. I answered all his questions, provided joint bank statements, letters from the banks on our joint accounts, showed him a joint auto purchase we had and then started showing him photos. He looked at the first 200 photos asking a few questions and after he looked at the next few photo books he asked if we had any photos from my first few trips to visit my then fiancée. I pulled the photos from the suitcase and told the IO they were the same photos I submitted with my I-129 and the photos were given back to me after we had the interview at the Consulate in Vietnam. The IO said that was "state" (meaning Department of State) and asked if he could keep the photos and I said sure. He then became very friendly and stamped my wife's passport with the temporary I-551 and answered a few questions we had. I would say he did not look at 90% of the documents I had ready for him but he did say he was very glad I had everything with me just incase he needed to see something else. Overall it went well and I was glad they asked me most of the questions because my wife was nervous but I was not nervous and extremely well prepared.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

The office is easy to find. We arrived at 1:00 since our appointment was at 1:30. We went through security and checked in. We were told to sit down and wait for our name to be called. After a long and vey boring wait (no cellphones to play with) we were finally called at 2:45pm, the Officer didn't seem very friendly, he swore us and asked us to sit down. Started asking questions to my husband (USC) about how we met, how long we dated, who attended our wedding, where he worked and where we lived and if the house was rented or no. He then asked me when was the last time I had entered the country and if I worked. The officer asked another question but we didn't know who he was talking to so my husband started answering and I kind of completed it and the officer told me "you can't help him with the answers" after that he looked at our pics and bank accounts, insurance and car policies. He then stood up and told us he needed to get some copies of our pictures and that was all. He said he needed to check our paper work again before making a decision. All in all it took 15 minutes. Two days later I checked my case status and it said "approved". In my opinion the Officer didn't seem friendly but he wasn't mean either. I guess to be that way is just part of the job.
